Transit Connections

There are hundreds of connections you can make with your valid Metrolink ticket including city bus, shuttle bus, light rail, and subway lines.

By special arrangement with transit systems throughout Southern California, your Metrolink ticket takes you farther than ever before. Most of these connections are free with your valid Metrolink ticket.

Three Simple Rules:

  1. All Metrolink tickets must be stamped with today’s date to be valid for boarding connecting transit (Monthly Passes must be for the current month).
  2. Metrolink tickets are good for free rides on most local transit services only. An additional fare payment may be required for express or other non-local bus service.
  3. Just show your Metrolink ticket to the driver or attendant upon boarding your connecting transit service.

Here’s more information on all participating transit services and some important tips to help you complete your trip and get the best value from your Metrolink ticket:

In Los Angeles County, the EZ transit pass program allows Metrolink riders with valid Metrolink tickets unlimited free rides on participating operators' local services - any time, any day, any station, any direction of travel. Local service includes all Metro Rail routes and stations, Metro Rapid bus and Metro Local bus. An additional fare for express services may be required (e.g. Metro Silver Line).

EZ transit pass travel does not require a direct transfer between Metrolink and connecting bus and rail lines. Remember, your Metrolink ticket must be for today’s date to be valid for travel on any of the participating EZ transit pass operators’ local services, but the time limits on One-Way and Round-Trip Metrolink tickets don’t apply to connecting EZ transit pass services. Ticket time limits are only for your trip onboard Metrolink trains.

The EZ transit pass program participants include:

  • Antelope Valley Transit Authority
  • Baldwin Park Transit
  • Beach Cities Transit
  • BurbankBus
  • Carson Circuit
  • City of Monterey Park Spirit Bus

  • Metro Red Line to Wilshire/Western and North Hollywood: Use your Metrolink ticket to ride to and from all the stations along the Metro Red Line.
  • Metro Blue Line to Long Beach: Ride free with your Metrolink ticket all the way to Long Beach and back.
  • Metro Green Line to LAX/El Segundo: At the Norwalk Metrolink station, Metrolink ticket holders may board the City of Norwalk’s Route #4 and ride free to the Norwalk Green Line station. Transfers to/from all Metro Green Line stations and on Metro buses serving the Green Line stations are included in your Metrolink ticket.
  • Metro Gold Line to Pasadena: Board the Metro Gold Line at Union Station and ride free all the way to Azusa.
  • Metro Expo Line to Santa Monica.
  • Metro Orange Line: Board the Metro Orange Line at Chatsworth Station and ride all the way to North Hollywood.

In addition to the EZ Transit Pass Program, Metrolink offers connections to many other transit services. Click on the county link to see a list of all connections. Unless noted, you can ride for free on these connecting local services with your valid Metrolink ticket.
