General Overview

Take a trip to the Far East with Metrolink!  A connection to the Metro Gold Line at LA Union Station will drop you off directly in Chinatown. Traverse Chinatown to discover a wishing well and actual Hollywood movie sets!  After you’re done touring Chinatown, grab some of LA’s finest Dim Sum at one of the many eateries. If you want to stay near, but travel far, Metrolink can take you there!

The Chinese American Museum is housed inside the oldest remaining building of the original Chinatown.  The museum is jointly developed and operated by the Friends of the Chinese American Museum and El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument.

Central Plaza
North Broadway, North of College Street

The main gateway into Chinatown on North Broadway leads to the Central Plaza of Chinatown which is surrounded by many Chinese shops, restaurants, and businesses.  The Central Plaza also serves as the venue for a variety of special events.

Seven Star Caverns Wishing Well

The Seven Star Caverns Wishing Well is located in the Central Plaza.  The well is a scale model of a real cave in Canton, where people believed the Mythological Immortals lived.  It is said that throwing a coin into the well with your back turned will make your greatest wish come true.

Hop Louie Pagoda

The Hop Louie Restaurant Pagoda was constructed in early 1941 and is the focal point of Central Plaza.  The unique five tier pagoda was the last major landmark to be erected in Chinatown’s Central Plaza.

Use Metrolink's $10 Weekend Day Pass on either Saturday or Sunday for unlimited rides systemwide!

  • TAP enabled tickets have free transfers to the Metro Rail.
  •  Metrolink riders who purchase tickets headed to Union Station have TAP enabled tickets.
  • Stay hydrated during your adventure.  Drinking water is available on Metrolink trains.
Directions & Schedules
  • Take Metrolink to L.A. Union Station (LAUS)
  • Head East toward Union Station
  • Take Metro Gold Line toward APU/Citrus College Station
  • Exit Chinatown Station – Northwest Entrance
  • Head west on W College St toward N New High St
  • Turn left onto N Broadway
  • Arrive in Chinatown
