CONSTRUCTION UPDATE |
Please see below for updates in blue regarding construction on the Florence Avenue Interchange Project. |
FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT This week crews will resume work to remove the remaining portion of the sound wall along the northbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp, adjacent to Longworth Avenue. The sound wall removal operation will take approximately two weeks to complete. As soon as the old wall is removed, crews will immediately begin work to construct the new sound wall. This construction activity will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised, this work may be loud and disruptive due to concrete demolition and removal, equipment noise, sound wall construction activities and truck back-up alarms.
Crews will be working at night in the center median of the freeway to strip the bridge column forms. Lanes on northbound I-5 at Florence Avenue will be reduced from 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 10. At least one lane on northbound I-5 will remain open, while this work is conducted. On Thursday night, May 11 crews will close northbound I-5 in order to remove shoring plates from the work area. Northbound I-5 will be closed, from Norwalk Boulevard to I-605, from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, May 11 until 5 a.m. Friday, May 12. Motorists will be detoured to exit northbound I-5 at Norwalk Boulevard off-ramp; head west on Adoree Street, west on Imperial Highway, then west on Firestone Boulevard to northbound I-605 on-ramp. Transition from northbound I-605 back onto northbound I-5. Visit the project Google map for more information.
