Week of June 18, 2017 |
FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT Crews will continue nighttime work to construct the falsework system for the new half of the Florence Avenue bridge. The falsework system is used as a gigantic work table to provide support while constructing bridge and it includes a top, legs, feet and bracing. Just as a work bench is assembled, the pads or feet of the falsework touch the ground surface and the very top of the work bench is what crews call the soffit. It is atop that elevated surface of the falsework where crews build and cast the new bridge superstructure.
Fence installation, vegetation removal and sound wall removal along the northbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp, adjacent to Longworth Avenue, will continue next week. Once the sound wall removal operation is completed, crews will immediately begin work to construct the new sound wall. A privacy fence has been installed along Longworth Avenue, adjacent to northbound I-5 freeway. This work will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised, this work may be loud and disruptive due to concrete demolition and removal, equipment noise, sound wall construction activities and truck back-up alarms. CIDH (cast in drilled hole) piles along northbound I-5 are currently on hold. Once this work is scheduled this operation will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT Crews are performing nighttime drilling operations for CIDH (cast in drilled hole) piles on Pioneer Boulevard. This work will be ongoing for approximately five weeks and will require nightly closures on Pioneer Boulevard, between Imperial Highway and Crewe Street (shown in red on the map below; detour route highlighted in green), Sundays through Thursdays, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Crews have completed bridge demolition activity to remove the old Imperial Highway bridge at I-5. Pile driving activity along I-5 at Pioneer Boulevard is ongoing; this work will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing intermittently for approximately three months. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration, and pounding related to pile driving activity. As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT Crews have begun work to reconstruct the sidewalk on N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue. The sidewalk in this area, shown on the map below in red, will be closed for the duration of this work and there will be no pedestrian access while crews reconstruct the sidewalk to match the new street alignment. This work will be ongoing for approximately three months. Rosecrans Avenue may be closed to all through traffic (motorists and pedestrians) in both directions underneath I-5, Monday through Fridays between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Nighttime closures on Rosecrans Avenue will continue intermittently for the next six months. For detour information visit the project Google Map. VALLEY VIEW AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT Pile driving and shoring activities are ongoing on the south side of Valley View Avenue. This work will be conducted weekdays during the daytime between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. *DISCLAIMER: Due to the dynamic nature of construction, please note that all dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather. |
