July 9, 2017

Week of July 9, 2017

FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Wednesday, July 12 through Friday, July 14, crews will perform paving work on the cul-de-sacs at Quinn Street, Muller Street and Buell Street, as well as along Cecilia Street and Lakeland Road, adjacent to the I-5 freeway. Temporary parking restrictions will be in place and driveway access may be affected while this work is completed. The contractor will place "No Parking" signs in advance of this work. Paving work will take place during daytime shifts, Wednesday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

On Monday, July 17, crews will begin work to reconstruct the intersection of Fairford Avenue at Florence Avenue. Fairford Avenue must be reconstructed to meet the higher elevation of the new Florence Avenue Bridge. Crews will close Fairford Avenue to through traffic between Dollison Drive and Florence Avenue, beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, July 17. Fairford Avenue will remain closed for reconstruction through early 2018. Fairford Avenue will be closed between Dollison Drive and Florence Avenue; the closure area is shown in red on the map below. The detour route is highlighted in blue

Fence installation, vegetation removal and sound wall removal along the northbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp, adjacent to Longworth Avenue, will continue next week. Once the sound wall removal operation is completed, crews will immediately begin work to construct the new sound wall. A privacy fence has been installed along Longworth Avenue, adjacent to northbound I-5 freeway. This work will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised, this work may be loud and disruptive due to concrete demolition and removal, equipment noise, sound wall construction activities and truck back-up alarms.

Crews have begun drilling CIDH (cast in drilled hole) piles along northbound I-5. This operation will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and will be ongoing for approximately six to eight weeks.

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT

Crews are performing nighttime drilling operations for CIDH (cast in drilled hole) piles on Pioneer Boulevard. This work will be ongoing next week and will require nightly closures on Pioneer Boulevard, between Imperial Highway and Crewe Street (shown in red on the map below; detour route highlighted in green), Sunday, July 9 through Thursday, July 13, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

This information can also be found on the project Google map.

Pile driving activity along I-5 at Pioneer Boulevard is ongoing; this work will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing intermittently for approximately three months. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration, and pounding related to pile driving activity.

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT

Crews have begun work to reconstruct the sidewalk on N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue. The sidewalk in this area, shown on the map below in red, will be closed for the duration of this work and there will be no pedestrian access while crews reconstruct the sidewalk to match the new street alignment. This work will be ongoing for approximately three months.

Rosecrans Avenue may be closed to all through traffic (motorists and pedestrians) in both directions underneath I-5, Monday through Fridays between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Nighttime closures on Rosecrans Avenue will continue intermittently for the next six months. For detour information visit the project Google Map.

VALLEY VIEW AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Sunday, July  9 through Wednesday, July 12 crews will be performing work in the center median along northbound and southbound I-5 between Artesia and Alondra Boulevards. In order to complete this work, there will be partial lane reductions on I-5 and the northbound and southbound I-5 Valley View on- and off-ramps may be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Pile driving and shoring activities are ongoing on the south side of Valley View Avenue. This work will be conducted weekdays during the daytime between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
