This is a fantastic recreational bike riding and commuter trail in western San Bernardino valley.
The Pacific Electric Trail is a great way to bike around the Inland Empire. This route is a great commuter and recreation trail that’s mostly paved, located in western San Bernardino. It follows the old Pacific Electric Railway and has a total length is 18.1 miles, with the segment in Upland made of asphalt — nicely landscaped before connecting to Claremont with its shopping opportunities and access to the Claremont Colleges.
The segment in Rancho Cucamonga includes one of its last remaining railway depots on Etiwanda Avenue. Although this path is kid-friendly, it’s important to note the lack of restrooms along the trail.
Metrolink employee Katy Thorpe recommends getting off the train at Claremont and grabbing some food in downtown Claremont, before biking to Upland on the trail to get a drink at Rescue Brewing or some coffee at Lucky's Coffee Roasters or Rad Coffee. It's flat enough for beach cruisers and riders of all ages.
