Downtown Riverside offers a rich blend of history, architecture, and culture and serves as an urban hub of the Inland Empire. Anchored by two historic performing arts centers managed by Live Nation and hosting a wide selection of bars, restaurants, and entertainment, there’s no shortage of things to do on these walkable streets.

One of the most notable elements of the downtown Riverside area is its rich history. The original grid street pattern was initially laid out in 1870. The neighborhood itself is home to more than a dozen historic sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places (and more than 30 city-designated landmarks).

One standout landmark is the well-known Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, which has been a part of the Riverside community for over 100 years and is appreciated by locals and visitors alike for the numerous on-site restaurants and seasonal events.

Other nearby attractions include the newly renovated Main Street pedestrian mall, lined with several unique local small businesses, including shops, restaurants and museums. This pedestrian mall offers shaded benches to rest after a long day of shopping and impressive architecture such as fountains, sculptures and pleasant landscape greenery.
