Angry Egret Dinette
The Angry Egret Dinette serves a solid lineup of LA street food made with locally sourced ingredients. The Chef, Wes Avila, is known for weaving the influences of his Mexican American heritage into his flavors.
The restaurant opened back in October 2020, when the height of pandemic shutdowns mandated restaurants could only serve food from a pop-up window. Demand for his food during the popup phase made it clear their patio oasis needed to become a permanent LA institution.
The Angry Egret Dinette has since earned a James Beard nomination for "best new restaurant" -- and the small window has grown to include an outdoor atrium dining area and an indoor dining area inspired by old Chinatown.
Chef Avila is known to create specials that change weekly (if not daily!), so diners will never tire of this local restaurant’s unique menu. Classic offerings can include starters like the Crab Tostada made with hibachi tartare with crab salad, avocado salsa, salsa china and salsa negra – or main courses like the Oxtail Fritas made with braised oxtail, french fries, demi-glace, chives and served with a side of salsa negra aioli.
It’s always a unique experience with a variety of creatively contrasting flavors!
