FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT
There are no closures scheduled on the Florence Avenue interchange project the week of Nov. 19.
On Monday, Nov. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 20, crews will continue
work to construct the northbound I-5 Florence Avenue
on-ramp and the adjacent sound wall. Work will be ongoing
at the south end of the sound wall, nearest Florence
Avenue. Construction activities will include (but not
limited to) backfilling using a vibratory roller, forming
sections of the wall, and pouring concrete.
A portion of the sidewalk on Longworth Avenue, adjacent to
the northbound I-5, has been closed to accommodate sound
wall reconstruction. A chain link fence has been installed
to close this area of the sidewalk from public access
through the end of 2017. The sidewalk will be restored
once sound wall construction is complete. While the sidewalk
is being reconstructed, the sidewalk across the street
from this work is open and accessible for public use.
On Tuesday morning, Nov. 28 crews will move into the
next stage of construction on the Florence Avenue
bridge
Stage 2 Phase 1). Traffic will be shifted onto
the newly constructed south half of the Florence Avenue
bridge and the new lane configuration will include two
lanes for westbound traffic and one lane for eastbound
traffic.
To prepare for the traffic shift,
Florence Avenue will be closed between Studebaker Road
and Orr and Day Road from 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27
until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28,at which time
Florence Avenue will reopen with the new temporary lane
configuration shown on the map below.
Visit the project website for a map of alternate
routes to use while Florence Avenue is closed overnight
on Monday, Nov. 27.
In addition to the new lane configuration, crews will begin
reconstructing the intersection of Orr and Day Road at
Florence Avenue, to accommodate the new higher elevation
of the Florence Avenue bridge.
Please note, the intersection of Orr and Day Road, from
Longworth Avenue to Florence Avenue, will be closed
for approximately two months (weather permitting),
beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 a.m.
While the intersection is closed, motorists will be directed to use an alternate route, as shown on the map below.
The new temporary traffic configuration for Stage 2 Phase
1 is shown on the map below; closure areas are shown
in
red. To view all of the construction staging maps
for the Florence Avenue bridge, visit the
project website.
IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT
There are no nighttime closures scheduled on the Imperial
Highway & Pioneer Boulevard project the week of Nov.
19.
Crews have closed the sidewalk along westbound Imperial Highway,
between Paddison Avenue and Pioneer Boulevard, for construction
activity. This portion of the sidewalk will be closed
for the next several months. Pedestrians should follow
detour signs and watch for motorists; the pedestrian
detour route is shown on the map below in green; the
sidewalk closure area is shown in
red.
As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and
Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction
may be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime,
between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE
BRIDGE PROJECT
There are no closures scheduled on the Rosecrans Avenue & Bloomfield Avenue project the week of Nov. 19.
Over the next few weeks crews may take intermittent daytime
lane closures on Rosecrans Avenue at I-5, Mondays through
Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. At least one
lane will remain open in each direction on Rosecrans
Avenue at all times. These lane closures are needed to
complete installation of overhead signs and to pour curb
and gutter.
