Omer Rains Coastal Bike Trail
Bikers can disembark at the Ventura Downtown/Beach Station and travel in either direction, North or South from Surfers Point at Seaside Park, along The Omer Rains Coastal Bike Trail for a gorgeous seaside ride featuring blooming flowers in the spring.
The path, named after local politician and environmentalist Omer Rains, travels 8.6 miles total as an out-and-back route but is flat and mostly paved, making for a leisurely ride.
This trail is an incredibly scenic route that parallels the coast of Ventura offering beautiful views of the ocean and the Channel Islands off in the distance. Depending on the season, riders can even spot local wildlife, such as dolphins and whales.
Riders will pass by beloved landmarks like Ventura's historic pier (considered to be the longest in California!), San Buenaventura State Beach, Emma Wood State Beach and Seaside Wilderness Park. This trail also links with the Ventura River Trail to make the journey a longer ride.
Customers with a Metrolink ticket or pass cannot bring bicycles on board Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains. Cyclists require a bicycle reservation, which is complimentary with paid Amtrak tickets. Amtrak tickets and bike reservations can be obtained by visiting Amtrak.com, at Quik-Trak ticketing machines, from station ticket agents, or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
