Metrolink, Southern California’s passenger rail service, today launches an online tool called “How Full Is My Train?”. The tool allows riders to check recent ridership levels of a train they plan to ride and confirm they will have the ability to maintain safe distances on board trains.

Seven of every ten riders still taking Metrolink while stay-at-home orders are in place identify themselves as “Essential Workers”, according to the results of the COVID-19 Customer Survey released today by Metrolink, Southern California’s regional passenger rail service. More than one half of these respondents either work in Healthcare (39%) or Transportation/Logistics (14%), and nearly one-third (32%) have no vehicle and rely on Metrolink to get to their jobs.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced an award of $10.7 million from the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Grant Program to fund passenger rail safety and speed improvement projects in the critical Burbank-Anaheim Rail Corridor, one of the busiest thoroughfares in Southern California.

Today, Metrolink and NASCAR rookie driving sensation Cole Custer encouraged race fans to use Metrolink special train service to travel to Fontana for the Auto Club 400 on Sunday. Metrolink will offer three special trains to make getting to the Auto Club Speedway easier and less stressful. Race fans can reduce congestion and emissions by taking the train for only $10 round trip with the $10 Weekend Day Pass that gives all-day travel for one low price.

Metrolink makes traveling to Fontana for the Auto Club 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, March 1 easier and less stressful with three special trains to Auto Club Speedway. Race fans can affordably avoid traffic with the $10 Weekend Day Pass that is good for travel all day and includes a shuttle to the speedway entrance gates.

This Valentine’s Day, Metrolink will thank customers for taking the train during its second annual Customer Appreciation Day. During the morning rush, Metrolink staff will thank riders with treats of candy at select stations in the five-county region. At Union Station, riders can stop for a free cup of coffee in the morning or free ice cream in the afternoon.
