Hearing is scheduled for January 11

PERRIS – Metrolink, in coordination with the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), is hosting a community meeting to discuss the extension of the current 25 percent fare discount on Metrolink’s 91/Perris Valley (91/PV) Line.

Community members wishing to get additional details or provide their input can attend the public hearing on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Perris Valley Senior Center, located at 100 N. D St., Perris, CA 92570. The public can also get more information and provide feedback online at https://www.metrolinktrains.com/ecomments.

This initial 25 percent discount promotion was funded by RCTC and has been in place since December 7, 2016. The proposed discount was a way to boost ridership to the four new stations of the Metrolink Perris Valley (PV) extension. As a result of an increase in ridership and meeting its goals of maintaining existing riders and growing new ridership on the 91/PV Line extension, RCTC would like to make the promotional 25 percent discount fare long-term.

Upon completion of the outreach and public hearing process, the results will be presented to the Metrolink Board of Directors for consideration and possible approval at the Metrolink board meeting on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. The board meeting will be held at One Gateway Plaza, 3rd Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Members of the public are invited to attend.

In June 2016, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) launched a new Metrolink service, the PV Line, as an extension to the 91/LA Line, adding approximately 24 route miles between Riverside Downtown and South Perris. Four new stations were constructed at Riverside Hunter Park, Moreno Valley/March Field, Downtown Perris, and South Perris which now serve as a new transit hub, connecting residents in Eastern Riverside County to employment in Los Angeles and other activity centers west of Riverside County.
