Yesterday, Metrolink hosted the Metrolink Safety Summit, which is the centerpiece of our September Rail Safety Month campaign. More than 200 leaders in safety and transportation convened with us to engage in an important conversation about ensuring rail safety.

The Honorable Jennifer Homendy, 44th member of the National Transportation Safety Board, delivered an inspirational keynote address challenging us all to choose safety and strive for zero incidents, zero injuries and zero rules violations.

Chair, Vice Chair, Supervisor Barger, Directors Martinez, Paul Marquez, Art Brown, Pam O'Connor and Walt Allen as well as former board members participated in the Summit and/or the PTC recognition dinner the night before.

After the Summit, eight media outlets joined us for the press conference headlined by Chair Humphrey, Operation Lifesaver and LA County Sheriff Villanueva.

LA County Fair Fun Begins with a Ride on Metrolink

We are entering the third weekend of Metrolink service to the LA County Fair. After a slow start, we had the best ridership of the season last Sunday with a 123% increase over last year with 591 riders. It undoubtedly helped that on the Wednesday before we held our annual Petting Farm event at Union Station, which helped us get the word out about this special train service.

Metrolink San Bernardino Line Saturday and Sunday trains make a special stop at the Fairplex Station after 10 a.m. Metrolink also has an evening train departing the Fairplex for Union Station at 8:30 p.m. The LA County Fair and Metrolink special service are two great late summer tradition.
