Immediately upon walking into Zander’s Game House in Camarillo, visitors can sense it’s a place of fun. In fact, even the floor of the walkway into the business itself is a giant chess board.

Families who enjoy playing tabletop board games together will love this destination, which offers more than 700 games to choose from. It’s a pretty safe bet that whether guests are board game aficionados or board game novices, they'll get to try out something new and exciting. Recently Zander’s also began offering games for rent in addition to playing at the store -- so those who want to continue the adventure can play at home.

Zander's was founded by a local Camarillo Mom, who wanted to create a community gathering place where people could escape from their screens and electronic devices together. The entrance fee costs just $5 per person to gain unlimited access to any game of choice -- and the best part is that visitors can stay as long as they want, and even rent out games that they like and want to bring home. Those who want to return again and again can even purchase a 30-day pass for unlimited entries!

Here, there are games for players of all ages and interests, from kids from one to 92. But be forewarned, there WON’T be any video games at Zander’s as it’s purely a face-to-face, engaging experience. Don’t be afraid to try something new since the more complicated games have video tutorials to show each visitor how to play.

After embarking on a game-playing journey, indulge in a snack, soft drink, or desserts as a treat to refuel before going back to more games. For this reason, it's a terrific, kid-friendly destination to host a birthday party or private event in Ventura County.

Zander’s also hosts special themed game nights and events from time to time -- so check out their website for more information on when to attend. From Dungeons and Dragons game nights to trivia nights, and more -- Zander's is a fun place to spend a day.
