Filming/ Photoshoot Requests

ONBOARD FILMING/ PHOTOSHOOT GUIDELINES

_{Metrolink DOES NOT own the train stations or their parking lots. The respective Cities must be contacted for production requests. Permission is required from Metrolink to film on the train, station platforms, and Metrolink-owned facilities. Please email [email protected] with the completed information below for estimated costs.}

All requests must be submitted to Metrolink at a minimum of (4) four weeks before the production date. The request must include the following. Any missing information will delay processing.

  • Location (which station)  
  • Hours of Production
    • Please include any prep time, load-in, production, and load-out schedules. 
  • Scene description
    • Please include a storyboard/ creative brief
  • Total number of crew and cast members on site
  • Will you require filming on the platform?
  • Will you require train equipment to be stationary or moving?
  • Which train equipment are you looking to film with (Bombardier or Rotem)?
  • Description of filming equipment to be used.
    • Types of cameras, booms, tracks, etc.
  • Parking requirements for any production/ crew vehicles (box trucks, craft services, tow generators, etc.)
    
    
• After initial approval, a pre-production walk-through is required so production can understand the station and train equipment.
  
  
• Metrolink requires an executed agreement and completed insurance information before filming/ photography activities on board trains or at our Metrolink-owned maintenance facilities.
  
  
• Any filming that involves access to equipment or to the railroad right-of-way will require successful advance completion of the Railroad Safety Training course.
  
  
  • This training ensures that the crew and actors will learn proper procedures to protect themselves against possible track dangers and will be coordinated with you upon permit approval.
    
    
  • A Right-of-Entry Permit will be required from Metrolink along with (provided by the submitting production company) insurance with monies to cover direct services such as Safety Training, Protective Flagging Services, and Administration Costs.
    
    
• Metrolink will need to review the overall film production concept in advance for filming approval.
  
  
• All productions require a mandatory safety briefing before work starts. All film crew members must attend.
  
  
• Fees will vary depending on the production; however, the starting cost is $20,000.
