Metrolink to Host Public Meeting to Discuss San Bernardino Line Fare Reduction

RANCHO CUCOMONGA–Metrolink will conduct a public meeting in Rancho Cucamonga, regarding a proposal for a regular 25 percent fare discount on the San Bernardino Line.

The meeting is Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, 11200 Base Line Rd., Rancho Cucamonga, 91701. An English language presentation begins at 6 p.m. with a Spanish language presentation starting at 6:30 p.m.

The presentations will be live-streamed on Facebook at 6 p.m. on the day of each meeting at Facebook.com/Metrolink.

On May 15, the Metrolink Board of Directors approved a motion for a promotional 25 percent discount starting July 1 on all San Bernardino Line fares to boost ridership. The effort was led by Metrolink Board Director and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis with support from fellow directors Mayor of Highland Larry McCallon, City of Ontario Mayor pro Tem Alan D. Wapner, Glendale Councilmember Ara Najarian, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Los Angeles Councilmember Paul Krekorian.

The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) are funding the 25 percent fare discount.

Following the promotional fare reduction, the San Bernardino Line saw an eight percent increase in August and a 10 percent increase in Septembercompared to the previous year.

A public meeting was also held Thursday night in Los Angeles. The public workshop will discuss making the current promotional 25 percent discount a part of Metrolink’s regular fare.
