Angels Express rolls into postseason service

Fans can take Metrolink to American League Divisional Series

LOS ANGELES - Baseball fans looking to avoid traffic congestion have the opportunity to continue riding Metrolink to Los Angeles Angels games as the Angels take on the Kansas City Royals in the American League Divisional Series tomorrow evening and Friday night.

Fans are encouraged to ride Metrolink regular service from Oceanside and Irvine with Orange County Line trains 609 and 689 arriving in Anaheim at 4:41 p.m. and 5:31 p.m., respectively. After the game, fans can take train Orange County Line train 644 home. The train will depart at its regularly scheduled Anaheim time of 10:09 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the contest, whichever is later.

From Los Angeles Union Station, fans can take Orange County Line trains 604 or 688, arriving to Angels Stadium at 5:16 p.m. or 5:33 p.m., respectively. A special service train will depart 30 minutes after the end of the game back to Union Station.

Game time tomorrow night will be 6 p.m., while the Friday night contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Angels posted the best record in baseball this season, winning the American League West Division by 10 games, while the Royals won a dramatic 12-inning wild card playoff game against the Oakland Athletics to advance to the ALDS.

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and Metro are funding the special Metrolink train service to and from the playoff games. The Angels Express train service will also be available for a Game 5, if necessary, and if the Angels advance to the American League Championship Series, which begins on Oct. 10.

Round-trip tickets for the special train service cost $7 for the general public, $6 for seniors and $4 for youth ages 6 to 18. All valid Metrolink fare media will also be accepted. Children ages 5 and under ride free with paying adult, with a limit of three per adult fare.

Tickets may be purchased at Metrolink station ticket vending machines by selecting "Special Ticket Options." Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the train departure time to purchase your Angels Express tickets.

During the regular season, the Angels Express provided nearly 44,000 fan boardings to and from games.
