LOS ANGELES – Metrolink, Southern California’s regional passenger rail provider, will offer expanded service on the Antelope Valley, 91/Perris Valley and San Bernardino lines this Saturday, March 8. In total, Metrolink is adding five morning and five afternoon trains to accommodate an anticipated ridership increase from attendees of a large-scale International Women’s Day event in downtown Los Angeles. Due to a planned service outage for system upgrades and maintenance, trains will not operate Saturday on the Orange County, Ventura County or Inland Empire-Orange County lines.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Pershing Square and is being organized by the Women’s March Foundation, which has hosted a number of high-turnout rallies in Southern California in recent years. In both 2018 and 2019, Metrolink saw ridership for the organization’s annual Women’s March top 13,000, a more than 70% increase over typical Saturday ridership. The additional service capacity will ensure that all customers – whatever their reason for traveling this weekend – can enjoy a safe, reliable and comfortable ride on Metrolink.
On March 8, Metrolink will add the following trains to the existing Saturday service schedule:
