New train departures will optimize commuter service
LOS ANGELES - On Monday, Oct. 6, Metrolink is implementing schedule changes to improve rider commutes. The schedules and train numbers on select lines will change to reflect the agency's commitment to offer the best service possible.
To meet the needs of regular 91 Line riders, commuter service is being optimized by offering new trains during the morning and afternoon peak commute times, and eliminating two mid-day trains. These schedule changes will provide better service to regular Metrolink riders and were established following feedback from rider surveys. The additional trains during peak commuting time will be available prior to the 91 freeway construction ramp-up.
The weekday changes also compliment the additional 91 Line weekend service that went into effect July 5, which offers four trains between Downtown Riverside and Los Angeles on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Orange County Line trains 607 and 644 will depart later to minimize conflicts with other rail service.
On the San Bernardino Line, Metrolink trains 310, 327, 338, and 339 will no longer operate. This is due to the fiscal emergency as part of the FY 2014-15 budget.
On the Ventura County/Burbank-Bob Hope Airport Line, train 907 will depart Los Angeles Union Station 5 minutes later at 8:55 a.m., arriving at Burbank-Bob Hope Airport at 9:20 a.m., while on the Antelope Valley Line train 207 will depart Los Angeles Union Station 20 minutes later at 9:40 a.m., arriving at Via Princessa at 10:50 a.m.
