Metrolink Offers $10 Pass to Help Travelers Avoid Holiday Traffic This Thanksgiving Weekend

Moorpark Station-Tier 4

LOS ANGELES – Regional passenger rail provider Metrolink is once again offering travelers a budget-friendly alternative to hitting the congested roadways during the busy Thanksgiving holiday. From Thursday through Sunday, Southern Californians can enjoy unlimited rides on Metrolink’s six-county system for just $10 per day, making visiting family or exploring popular destinations around the region convenient and affordable for anyone who will be out and about over the holiday weekend.

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and “Black Friday,” Nov. 29, Metrolink’s $10 Holiday Pass provides unlimited travel on the day of purchase. The $10 Weekend Day Pass is available on Saturdays and Sundays, while kids 17 years of age and under ride for free on weekends with a paying adult. These promotions are also valid on Metrolink’s Arrow service, which connects San Bernardino and Redlands.

Thanksgiving Service Schedule

Metrolink and Arrow trains will operate on their regular weekend schedules from Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, with service on the Ventura County, Antelope Valley, San Bernardino, Orange County, 91/Perris Valley, and Inland Empire-Orange County lines. The Riverside Line, which does not run on weekends, will also not operate on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday.

Rail 2 Rail® and Codeshare Blackout Dates

During the peak Thanksgiving travel period, from Wednesday, Nov. 27, to Monday, Dec. 2, the Rail 2 Rail® program, which allows Metrolink Monthly Pass holders to also ride Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains within Ventura and Orange counties, will be temporarily suspended. Normal service under this program will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Due to the expected surge in holiday travel, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner codeshare service along the Ventura County Line will be suspended on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and Sunday, Dec, 1.

 Holiday Express Train Opening Weekend

Opening weekend for Metrolink’s Holiday Express Train is set for Nov. 30, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, at Anaheim Station. Specially ticketed Holiday Express Train trips feature festive decor, onboard carolers, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, among other surprise guests, and family-friendly welcome activities at the station prior to boarding.
