LOS ANGELES - On Nov. 16 and 17, Metrolink's Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines will not operate between the San Clemente Pier and Oceanside stations.
North County Transit District's COASTER service, Amtrak and BNSF freight trains will also be affected. Amtrak will only operate between Los Angeles Union Station and Irvine.
Passengers are encouraged to plan in advance to take other forms of transit to and from Metrolink's Oceanside Station. There will be no bus service or alternate transportation provided for Metrolink passengers.
During the weekend, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will conduct necessary work on the Santa Margarita Bridge Project in order to improve rider experience. This work will include adding a second main track, which will provide operational flexibility by allowing trains to meet and pass. The second track is expected to greatly improve schedule reliability. This project is expected to be complete in spring of 2014.
The tracks will re-open for regularly scheduled Metrolink and other rail service in time for the morning commute on Monday, Nov. 18.
