Metrolink Orange County nighttime track maintenance resumes

Project will not affect passenger service, but residents near tracks will hear increased nighttime activity

LOS ANGELES - Beginning Saturday, April 30, Metrolink will be replacing railroad ties along Metrolink's Inland Empire-Orange County Line over the course of four weeks between the cities of Orange and Placentia. The project, in conjunction with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), is scheduled to be complete on May 30.

Residents near the tracks will hear increased activity weeknights between the approximate hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Residents who live up to a block away from the tracks may hear intermittent construction noise such as equipment and vehicles for two to six hours as crews work in a given location. Additionally, train horns will be blown, due to a federal rule requiring horns as a safety precaution during construction. Due to the mobile nature of the work, most residents will not be impacted for more than one evening. Passenger train service will not be impacted.
