LOS ANGELES -A rise in reports of individuals taking photos and videos on Metrolink's railroad tracks points to the need for increased awareness on the dangers of walking on or near train tracks. Metrolink urges photographers and videographers to resist the temptation to take pictures or videos on or near Metrolink's right-of-way.
"We want to remind everyone that walking on or near railroad tracks is extremely dangerous because you never know when a train will come along," said Metrolink's Board Chair, Richard Katz, "Today's trains are quieter than ever, and an approaching train is always closer and moving faster than you think. We urge professional and amateur photographers to set the right example for others by adhering to Metrolink's safety guidelines."
At Metrolink, safety is foundational and we are committed to making sure that everyone who interacts with our trains does so safely. This includes our passengers, motorists at rail crossings and community members. Taking pictures or video near Metrolink trains or right-of-way can be hazardous, so we urge photographers and videographers to adhere to Metrolink's safety guidelines:
- Stay off Metrolink right-of-way and property. This includes tracks and the adjacent property, bridges, tunnels, signal towers and facilities.
- At passenger stations, always stand behind the line while on the platform.
- Obey all safety rules, regulations and instructions provided by law enforcement and Metrolink employees.
Rail safety is for everyone. Pedestrians who do not adhere to these safety guidelines are subject to a citation for trespassing on railroad property.
