Now baseball fans can take Metrolink trains to and from L.A. Union Station to Dodger home games
Los Angeles – Metrolink, in partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers and L.A. Metro, will offer new late-night train service after weekday Dodger home games throughout the season to complement Metro's Dodger Stadium Express bus service. Beginning on April 1, after the Dodger's first home game, Antelope Valley and San Bernardino line trains will depart Union Station at 11 p.m. and the Ventura County line train will depart Union Station at 11:05 p.m. For the season opener on March 31, baseball fans can take regularly-scheduled Metrolink Antelope Valley and San Bernardino trains to and from that game. On that night only, there will be a special Ventura County line train departing Union Station at 9:10 p.m.
On weekdays, Southern California baseball fans can take regularly-scheduled Metrolink trains to the home games and use L.A. Metro's Dodger Stadium Express to travel between Union Station and Dodger Stadium. When the game is over, Metrolink's special late-night trains will depart at their scheduled times to get fans home safely. Trains will not hold if a game runs over. A special reduced fare online ticket package is available at www.Dodgers.com/metrolink . Ticket packages for a Dodger ticket and Metrolink round-trip ticket will start at $20. This price is to encourage individuals to get out of their car, avoid parking costs ($15 minimum) and take public transit.
"We're pleased to offer new ways for Southern Californians to travel across the region," said Metrolink CEO John Fenton. "You can get a ticket to the game and round-trip train ticket with the bus transfer included for only $20. If you drove, you'd pay $15 to park alone, then have to purchase a ticket and have to pay for gas."
Antelope Valley and Ventura County line train service is funded by a grant awarded to L.A. Metro by the Mobile Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee. The $450,000 grant is also funding Metro's Dodger Express bus service between Union Station and Dodger Stadium.
"Following last year's successful launch, Metro is pleased to offer fans the Dodger Stadium Express bus service, which provides a direct link to Dodger Stadium from a vast network of trains and buses coming into Union Station," said LA County Supervisor and Metro Board Chairman Don Knabe. "We encourage fans to take advantage of public transportation throughout the season to save time and money."
Metro's Dodger Stadium Express bus will begin at Union Station picking up Dodgers fans at the Patsaouras Bus Plaza adjacent to the east portal of Union Station and continue to Dodger Stadium via Sunset Blvd. and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up in the Dodgers parking lot behind Left/Center field. Dodger Stadium Express bus service will be provided 90 minutes before game time and will run every 10 minutes prior to the start of the game and run approximately every 30 minutes throughout the game. Dodger Stadium Express bus service will run 45 minutes after the last game out. Metro will deploy state-of-the-art 40-foot clean burning compressed natural gas buses. Dodgers' admission tickets will be honored as fare payment to ride the bus service for free. Those without a ticket will pay regular one-way fare of $1.50.
