Metrolink to Celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day with $10 SoCal Day Pass

LOS ANGELESMetrolink, Southern California’s regional passenger rail provider, is offering an affordable alternative to sitting in seasonal traffic on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Next Thursday, Dec. 25, and the following Thursday, Jan. 1, Metrolink customers can enjoy unlimited rides across the 545-mile, six-county network – including the Arrow service connecting San Bernardino and Redlands – for just $10 per day with the SoCal Day Pass. Whether heading to a family gathering or fitting in a holiday outing, local Southern Californians and visitors alike can take the stress out of travel and avoid packed roadways by climbing aboard and letting Metrolink do the driving.

On both holidays, trains will operate a weekend schedule on all lines except the Riverside Line, which does not run on weekends or select holidays. In a change from recent years, Metrolink will not offer early morning service for Tournament of Roses Parade attendees on Jan. 1.

To help make holiday travel on Metrolink as smooth as possible, here are a few tips for enjoying the ride:

  • The SoCal Day Pass is available for purchase on the day of travel via the Metrolink mobile app or at any station ticket machine.
  • Don’t forget to check Metrolink’s train schedule ahead of time to plan your trip.
  • Sign up for Metrolink Alerts to receive timely service updates by email or text.
  • Look for onsite station signage and digital displays to direct you to the correct platform for boarding.
  • Once on board, listen for overhead announcements, including information about upcoming station stops.
  • Navigate first- and last-mile connections with ease, utilizing Metrolink’s free transfers to many local transit agencies, including LA Metro.
