Metrolink to Offer $10 SoCal Day Pass, Operate Weekend Schedule on Labor Day

LOS ANGELES — This Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 1, Southern California’s regional passenger rail provider, Metrolink, will offer several budget-friendly ways for travelers to explore its six-county service area. The SoCal Day Pass, which provides unlimited rides on the day of purchase, will be available for just $10 at all station ticket machines and on the Metrolink Mobile App. On Saturday and Sunday, up to three children 17 and under also ride free with each fare-paying adult.

These deals give Metrolink customers direct access to beaches, shopping, dining and countless SoCal adventures without the headache of holiday traffic and parking. Labor Day Service Details

Metrolink trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, with service on the Ventura County, Antelope Valley, San Bernardino, Orange County, 91/Perris Valley and Inland Empire-Orange County lines. The Arrow service, connecting San Bernardino and Redlands, will also run on a weekend schedule, while Riverside Line trains will not be in service.

During the peak Labor Day weekend travel period, from Friday, Aug. 29, through Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Rail 2 Rail® program, which allows Metrolink Monthly Pass holders to ride Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains within Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange counties, will be temporarily suspended. Normal service under this program will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 3. In addition, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner codeshare trains, which accept Metrolink tickets between Los Angeles and Ventura, may restrict access on a case-by-case basis if capacity becomes limited over the holiday weekend.

New School Year, New 50% Student Discount

As summer draws to a close and schools across the state start their fall terms, Metrolink’s 50% student/youth discount is making holiday travel even more affordable for families and giving students a reliable, low-cost option to meet their daily transportation needs throughout the year. The discount applies to riders 17 and under, as well as students of any age with a valid school ID, and is good on all Metrolink fares except for the L.A. Zone Day Pass.
