Metrolink Celebrates Bike to Work Week

In celebration of Bike to Work Week, Metrolink is giving free rides to anyone who brings a bike on the train through the end of the day. In our efforts to encourage riders to bike as a first/last mile option, our social media team hosted a Twitter Party on Tuesday. We also partnered with Clif Bar on Wednesday to promote the free service.

The results were remarkable! As an outcome of our social media efforts on Tuesday, we received more than 2 million impressions with an audience of more than 290,000, a 14% percent increase compared to the Twitter party last year. Participants won prizes, including a brand-new bike from DTLA Bikes, and other safety gear, by answering bike-related trivia.

On Wednesday, geared up and ready to go, Metrolink’s marketing team in partnership with Clif Bar, interacted with commuters energetically to encourage the importance of healthier life styles. In addition, they handed out promotional items that included: Clif Bars, lanyards, water bottles, timetables and bags for our bike commuters on the go.

Bikers were excited about receiving Metrolink swag and other free items. This wonderful turnout encompassed not only our goal of having positive customer interaction, but it also showcases our ongoing efforts to build partnerships with other organizations, such as Clif Bar.

We look forward to pushing the envelope for Bike to Work Week next year, challenging the community to join us in improving our environment by reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.

Kick Off Summer over Memorial Day Weekend with our $10 Holiday Discount

Metrolink is offering $10 Holiday discounted tickets on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

On Memorial Day, Metrolink is offering a Sunday/Holiday schedule. As part of the Sunday/Holiday schedule, there will not be service on the Ventura County or Riverside lines, nor on the four stops of the Perris Valley Line extension of the 91/Perris Valley Line.

This is a great way to extend the weekend by taking Metrolink throughout Southern California by heading to the beach, a theme park or Downtown Los Angeles.

Metrolink’s Rail 2 Rail® program with Amtrak, which allows Metrolink Monthly Pass holders to travel on Pacific Surfliner trains within station pairs at no additional charge, will be suspended from Friday, May 24 through Tuesday, May 28. The program will resume on Wednesday, May 29.

The $10 Holiday ticket can be purchased on the Metrolink app, or at ticket vending machines at Metrolink stations under “special ticket options.” Riders on May 27 can also purchase one-way or round-trip tickets for destinations that offer a fare less than $10. Regular weekend service and fares will apply on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.

Metrolink Supports Caltrans "Build for Tomorrow" Video

Last week, Metrolink Interim Chief of Program Delivery Justin Fornelli worked with our Public Affairs staff to create a short clip in support of a Caltrans campaign in association with Infrastructure Week, May 13-20, with the catch phrase, “Build for Tomorrow.”

Metrolink highlighted the construction of a center platform and a pedestrian underpass at the Van Nuys Metrolink Station. California State Proposition 1B funded the final design and construction, while Measure R and other funds were used to complete the preliminary engineering and environmental clearance.

The video project, which also highlights the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP), is a part of the Caltrans New Flash series and can be viewed here.
