Metrolink Participates in the Great Shake Out 2019
Brett Hawkins and Laurene Lopez dropped and covered for the Great Shake Out
As part of Metrolink’s safety culture, employees and contractors got under their desks as part of the Great Shake Out drill on Thursday at 10:17 a.m. Every year since 2008, Californians have been preparing to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes where we live, work and travel by participating in this exercise.
Safety is foundational at Metrolink and our commitment extends to every aspect of the agency. The Great Shake Out was a way to reinforce safety in the event of earthquake.
In case of an emergency, Metrolink stores emergency supplies on the 12th floor in the storage room and non-perishable food items are in the Learning and Development closed in the Riverside conference room, a first aid kit is on the wall outside the lunch room and an AED is mounted on the wall in the lobby waiting room. On the 15th floor, the first aid kit is mounted outside the men’s restroom and the AED is in the elevator lobby.
Everyone is encouraged to prepare a “go bag” of necessary items including:
• One gallon of water per day per person
• Non-perishable food
• Toilet paper, diapers, garbage bags and items for sanitation
• Flashlight, whistle, first aid kit and a hand-crank radio
Being prepared for an emergency is the best way to survive one. Let’s stay ready.
