Public Meeting Notice

In March 2020 Metrolink Operations, Mechanical, and Operations Contractors performed a joint review of possible service reductions in response to the COVID-19 National Emergency. The team placed customer service needs first by evaluating the highest ridership and optimum end-point arrival times. This was done to ensure that service would be maintained on trains most likely to perform strongly during the crisis. A second review was done to determine the viability of equipment and crew cycles utilized throughout operations for the adjusted schedule. As a result, on March 26, 2020, Metrolink reduced service by approximately 30% as follows:

Weekday trains reduced from 167 trains Monday through Thursday, and 169 on Fridays, to 115 trains Monday through Friday. This was a reduction of 52 daily trains and 54 trains on Friday. Weekend train operations were not modified. Total miles operated daily reduced from 9,996 to 7,761 (-2235 miles). The suspended trains are also highlighted in the links below:

Metrolink is evaluating the March 2020, 30% service reduction due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can provide comments at metrolinktrains.com/ecomments. The comment period closes May 18, 2021.
