Bike Week Highlights

This month’s bike-focused activities and promotions celebrated cycling, community and sustainability. During Bike Week, which ran from May 13-17, Metrolink and Arrow trains offered a fantastic deal: free rides for passengers who boarded with bicycles. This initiative was enthusiastically met with 5,950 riders seizing the opportunity to explore Southern California on two wheels.

Metrolink was also an active participant at Burbank's Bike, Walk, Breathe event, organized by the Burbank Transportation Management Organization. Staff engaged with the community, promoted sustainable transportation options and advocated for a healthier, greener lifestyle.

Later in the week, in collaboration with ActiveSGV, Metrolink co-hosted an unforgettable group bike ride. The adventure began at the El Monte Station, where riders boarded the train with their bikes in tow. Upon arriving at the Montclair Station, they embarked on a picturesque bike ride to the James Turrell Skyspace. After soaking in the artistic wonder, the group pedaled on to downtown Claremont for a well-deserved pit stop and some quality socializing. At the Claremont Station, cyclists boarded the train again to return to El Monte, capping off a day filled with adventure and camaraderie.

To ensure a safe and seamless Bike Week promotion, Metrolink Emergency Manager Eric Smith took the spotlight in a series of bike safety videos featured on Metrolink's social media accounts including YouTube and TikTok accounts. These informative videos provided valuable insights and advice to cyclists, ensuring that everyone could enjoy bringing their bikes on board safely.

Metrolink's participation in Bike Week was a testament to its commitment to promoting sustainable transportation options, fostering community engagement and prioritizing rider safety. It was a week filled with memorable experiences and meaningful connections, highlighting the joy and benefits of cycling and utilizing public transit.
