On Oct. 28, Metrolink’s Program Delivery team was honored at the Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) National Conference in San Francisco. The Los Angeles Union Station Rail Yard Rehabilitation and Modernization Project, completed last spring, was recognized with the Transportation Project Award in the category for projects not exceeding $50 million. Metrolink’s Director of State of Good Repair Aaron Azevedo accepted the prestigious distinction on behalf of the agency.

After earning regional commendation at CMAA’s Southern California Chapter Annual Awards Gala in June, the project was advanced for national consideration amongst other regional winners from across the country. Ultimately, Metrolink’s project stood out, earning top honors for its innovative approach to modernizing transportation infrastructure and the significant impact it will have on future operations.

The rail modernization project included replacing railroad tracks and switches as well as upgrading the signal system that controls train movements. These improvements were essential to maintaining safe and reliable service and will facilitate the efficient movement of trains through Metrolink’s shared operational hub into the future.

This national recognition underscores Metrolink’s commitment to delivering transformative projects that enhance the region’s mobility and connectivity.

Congratulations to everyone involved in realizing this monumental achievement!
