Metrolink Honored with Double Win at CMAA Awards

Metrolink and RailPros staff at the CMAA awards.

The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)’s Southern California Chapter Annual Awards Gala on June 6 was a night of celebration for Metrolink, which was honored with two prestigious awards. Metrolink was named Owner of the Year, and its Los Angeles Union Station Rail Yard Rehabilitation and Modernization Project also received significant recognition.

Each year, the CMAA’s Southern California Chapter acknowledges outstanding and innovative construction projects that contribute to the region’s development. This year, Metrolink’s Program Delivery Team, led by Chief of Program Delivery Justin Fornelli, received the Project Achievement Award in the transportation/rail category for projects under $50 million. This award was given in recognition of the transformational modernization work completed at L.A. Union Station over the last three years.

Director of State of Good Repair Aaron Azevedo, in partnership with consultant Railpros Inc., oversaw updates and rehabilitation to critical infrastructure at the historic station, originally built in 1939. While Metrolink has performed necessary maintenance and improvements over the years, this project was a major overhaul, ensuring the continuation of safe and reliable service while preparing for future rail system advancements.

These awards reflect Metrolink’s commitment to improving mobility in Southern California. Congratulations to everyone involved in these achievements. Their hard work and dedication are laying the foundation for an even brighter future for our region.
