Operational Transitions Bring New Synergies and Familiar Faces

As of June 28, Metrolink conductors are sporting new, branded uniforms.

Last November, Metrolink awarded a multi-year, bundled contract to Alstom, a long-time partner that has overseen the maintenance of rail equipment on Metrolink property since 1998. The contract streamlines train operation and maintenance services under a single provider, improving coordination and bolstering accountability, efficiency and service quality across the board.

Over the weekend, Metrolink officially entered this new era of rail operation with the transition to Alstom train crews, beginning last Saturday, June 28, at 12 a.m. While the uniforms may be new, passengers will see many of the same faces in the engineer and conductor roles on their regular lines and trains. Nearly 90% of existing Metrolink crewmembers and virtually all Arrow service operators have chosen to stay with us. Alstom has recruited and trained more than 30 new team members to provide additional support.

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of the Amtrak employees who held the trusted responsibility to operate our trains for the past 15 years. Moving forward, we will coordinate closely with our colleagues at Alstom to ensure the same level of safety, reliability and convenience our riders expect and deserve.
