Tomorrow, Friday, March 28, the Metrolink Board of Directors will assemble for an annual workshop where staff presentations will serve as springboards into deeper discussions, information sharing and opportunities for collaboration. The event begins this evening with a welcome dinner, followed by a full-day interactive session starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Knott’s Hotel in Buena Park.
Like all Metrolink Board meetings, the workshop will be open to public comment. Beyond the standard agenda items, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Metrolink leaders and partners on the following topics:
- Orange County Transportation Projects: Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) staff will report on select projects.
- Program Delivery Update: Staff will provide an update on the San Juan Creek Bridge, Fullerton Interlocker and Triple Track projects.
- Metrolink Reimagined – Optimized Service Schedule: Staff will reflect on the implementation of Metrolink’s October 2024 service expansion.
- Dedicated Funding Sources: Staff will present an analysis of alternative dedicated revenue sources that may reduce Metrolink’s reliance on financial support from member agencies.
- Freight Railroad Partnerships: A representative from BNSF executives will brief attendees on the freight rail operator’s efforts to improve Metrolink on-time performance issues.
- Safety Clinic: Staff will provide an orientation on Metrolink’s emergency plans, policies, philosophy and practices.
- LA28: Staff will discuss Metrolink's rolling stock, operational and planning needs, as we prepare to support the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Government Relations Update: State and federal advocates will overview legislative and executive initiatives in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
Business casual attire is requested. Official workshop participants will be provided breakfast, lunch and free parking during tomorrow’s meeting.
