A modern, state-of-the-art video wall is one element increasing efficiency at the new Security Operations Center (SOC) in Pomona.
Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Metrolink, and we’re raising the bar even higher in 2025 with sweeping enhancements designed to make our system safer, smarter and more resilient than ever. Recently, the train control and communications team, under project manager Llency Aquino, Metrolink senior railroad systems engineer, oversaw a series of security infrastructure improvements that strengthened key facilities, expanded surveillance and modernized access controls. This will help create a safer and improved experience for customers and team members across our rail network.
Among these transformational projects was the expansion of Metrolink’s video surveillance network, which is sharpening our monitoring capabilities throughout the system. Our Security Operations Center (SOC) was reimagined with cutting-edge technology to speed up response times. More than 1,000 new high-resolution cameras now keep watch across our stations, facilities and rail rights-of-way. Those cameras, combined with advanced sensors, are powering tunnel intrusion detection, enhancing visibility along critical rail corridors. We also reinforced security at Metrolink maintenance facilities by installing stronger fencing and gates, and we’ve upgraded our access control system with new card readers and smarter management software, ensuring a more secure and seamless operation.
New surveillance cameras improve safety and security at the El Monte Station along the San Bernardino Line.
Collectively, these advancements significantly deter unauthorized system access while increasing the efficiency of our incident response. The introduction of video analytics further enhances security monitoring by enabling automated and real-time incident detection. By investing in these game-changing improvements, we are fulfilling our core commitment to the communities we serve and ensuring a safer environment and service for Metrolink customers and personnel.
