Musical Performers Delight Customers During Latino Heritage Month Celebration

Local ensemble La Bestia Norteña performs live on a train platform at Union Station.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Metrolink surprised customers and LA Union Station visitors with live musical performances and snack and swag giveaways in honor of Latino Heritage Month. Travelers passing through the station between 3:30-6:30 p.m. were serenaded by the sounds of Marimba Tropical, while customers on Metrolink’s platforms were treated to festive performances by local ensemble La Bestia Norteña. Metrolink staff were on hand to engage with passengers and pass out branded swag and popular snack items that are staples in Latino communities.

Latino Heritage Month, also known as National Hispanic Heritage Month, is held annually from Sept. 15-Oct. 15. The theme of this year’s Metrolink event – “¡Conectando comunidades, celebrando culturas!” or “Connecting communities, celebrating cultures” – was a nod to the critical role public transportation plays in connecting Southern Californians with opportunities and with each other.

Metrolink customers who are looking to explore the region can find a curated collection of Latino-inspired or culturally significant destinations near Metrolink stations at metrolinktrains.com/latino-heritage. Two new apparel designs celebrating the deep roots and rich history of Latino communities in SoCal are also available in the Metrolink Store.
