Frequently Asked Questions About Bike Day
Bike Day is Thursday, May 15, 2025, during National Bike to Work Week. It’s a day to celebrate active transportation, sustainability, and commuting by bike. On this day, Metrolink offers free train rides to passengers who bring a bicycle onboard.
To ensure the safety of all riders and manage onboard bike capacity, Metrolink is limiting free rides to one day. Previous Bike Weeks saw a high volume of bicycles that strained available space. Aligning Bike Day with Metro’s free fare day also supports seamless transfers for many Metrolink riders.
Just bring your bike onboard any Metrolink or Arrow train on Bike Day—no ticket needed. Store it in the designated bike area (first-come, first-served). Regular train cars fit up to 3 bikes; look for yellow “Bike Car” decals for cars that hold up to 9. Arrow trains hold up to 12 bikes per car.
