New Simplified Fares Are Coming July 1, 2025
Metrolink is making it easier—and more affordable—to ride. Starting July 1, 2025, we’re piloting a new, simplified fare structure with fewer ticket types, lower prices on monthly passes, and expanded everyday discounts for more riders.

This six-month pilot follows our expanded schedule launch last year, offering more frequent, all-day train service across Southern California. Together, these updates are designed to better meet the needs of today’s travelers—whether commuting, exploring, or visiting friends and family.
New Fares
Fare is for a one-way trip between two stations on the day of purchase. Fare is calculated based on distance of travel.
A new day pass valid for unlimited Metrolink travel on day of purchase.
- Weekday: $15
- Weekend or Holiday: $10
The new $5 L.A Zone Pass is ideal for visitors traveling within the zone surrounding central Los Angeles. Good for unlimited travel on the day of purchase within the zone containing these stations:
- L.A. Union Station
- Glendale
- Burbank - Downtown
- Burbank - Airport (North)
- Burbank - Airport (South)
- Cal State L.A.
- Commerce
- Montebello
Note: Only the CA EBT discount may be applied to the L.A. Zone Pass. No other discounts apply.
Five one-day passes to use anytime within 30 days. Perfect for hybrid weeks and surprise plans. Price is based on distance between your two stations.
Unlimited rides on Metrolink trains for the month of purchase between your two stations (plus, unlimited travel systemwide on weekends!). Best for those who ride at least 3x/week…and parking fee escape artists. Price is based on distance between your two stations.
Discontinued Fare Types
Starting July 1, the following fares will no longer be offered. If your ticket or pass is being discontinued, consider one of the comparable alternative options.

Metrolink is committed to providing affordable travel for everyone by keeping fares low for students, seniors, military personnel, and disadvantaged riders. Everyday Discounts will remain, plus new discounts.

No changes here—keep buying the way you always have: the Metrolink Mobile App, station ticket machines, and L.A. Union Station ticketing windows.

The 6-month fare pilot is designed to simplify fares, make them easier to understand and use, reflect today’s travel habits (like hybrid commuting and leisure trips), and improve affordability and equity for all riders.
Not yet. This is a pilot program that will run through the end of 2025. Metrolink will evaluate customer response, ridership trends, and revenue impacts before determining the next steps.

As of July 1, the fares will be:
New Fares:
- SoCal Day Pass: Unlimited systemwide travel for $15 on weekdays and $10 on weekends/holidays.
- L.A. Zone Pass: Unlimited travel between 8 key L.A. County stations for just $5/day.
Existing Fares:
- One-Way Ticket: Tickets for one way travel.
- 5-Day Flex Pass: Buy five 1-day passes to use anytime within 30 days.
- Monthly Pass: Lower cost. Still offers unlimited rides systemwide for the month.
The new L.A. Zone Pass allows unlimited travel between 8 central L.A. stations for $5/day. It’s ideal for city-based travelers and includes free transfers to bus and rail transit services in L.A. County. Stations within the zone include:
- L.A. Union Station
- Glendale
- Burbank-Downtown
- Burbank-Airport (North)
- Burbank-Airport (South)
- Cal State. L.A.
- Commerce
- Montebello
The SoCal Day Pass is a one-day systemwide pass for unlimited travel across all Metrolink lines. $15 weekdays, $10 weekends. Free transfers are included.
Yes! It’s now priced lower, based on 25 one-way trips (instead of 28). It still includes unlimited rides and great value.

All existing Everyday Discounts continue, plus a new discount for veterans. Here's a breakdown:

Yes! All discounts can be stacked with the Mobility-4-All discount for even deeper savings. For example: Student + EBT.
Everyday Discounts can not be combined. For example: Disabled + Student, Veteran + Senior, etc.
Accepted forms of proof for Veteran discount eligibility include any of the following:
- Veteran ID card issued by US Department of Veterans Affairs
- State ID card with Veteran designation
- ID card issued by Department of Defense
- DD-214 (separation from military document)
- NGB-22 (National Guard equivalent of DD-214)
- Honorable Discharge Certificate
- Statement of Service
- Reserve Separation Orders

It depends. Future dated One-Way and Round-Trip tickets will still be accepted after the fare restructure pilot launches. However, any Student Adventure Passes will expire June 30.
The Student Adventure Pass pilot program ends June 30, 2025. Starting July 1, students get a 50% discount on fares (except L.A. Zone Day Pass) with valid student ID.
Yes. Round-trip promotional codes will dispense as a valid day pass.

No, tickets for use on future dates will not be available on the mobile app or on ticket machines.

Yes, unless otherwise specified. SoCal Day Pass pricing is even lower on weekends: $10. And Kids Ride Free will remain. Metrolink's $10 passes on observed holidays will continue.
