Universal Studios Hollywood by Train: The Easy Metrolink Travel Guide

A Car-Free Guide Using Metrolink + Transit

Overview

Universal Studios Hollywood is unlike any other theme park in the world — it's built on a real, working movie studio backlot. That dual identity shapes the entire experience. This guide shows how to reach Universal Studios without a car using Metrolink and local transit.

How to Get There Using Metrolink + Transit

Step 1: Take Metrolink (Antelope Valley Line or Ventura County Line) to Downtown Burbank Station.
Step 2: Transfer for free with your Metrolink ticket to the BurbankBus Pink Line.
Step 3: Ride to the Universal City stop.

Fare and Transfers

Purchase a SoCal Day Pass for all-day travel. Just $15 on weekdays and $10 on weekends. A valid Metrolink ticket includes free transfers to:
• BurbankBus (including Pink Line to Universal Studios)
• LA Metro rail and bus services
This allows seamless travel without an additional fare.

What You’ll Experience

Since 1964, the Studio Tour has given visitors a behind-the-scenes look at movie magic, including famous sets like Courthouse Square from Back to the Future. Beyond the tour, the park features themed lands based on major franchises, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Super Nintendo World, Jurassic World, Minion Land, and Springfield from The Simpsons. New in 2026, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift adds the park’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster with rotating ride vehicles.

Plan for a full day. Crowds are heaviest in late morning and early afternoon, so arriving early or staying into the evening can improve the experience. Universal CityWalk, just outside the park, is a convenient place to eat or unwind before returning to your Metrolink station. Be sure to consult the Metrolink schedule before planning your trip.
