Cole's French Dip
Cole’s is a classically known and beloved LA restaurant located in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles. Cole’s claims to offer the original French Dip, rivaling nearby Philippe’s. It first opened its doors back in 1908 in the Pacific Electric building, which was once the center of the Pacific Electric railway network.
At the peak of its original business, on average 100,000 Angelinos would pass through this space to sample the restaurant’s French Dips and cold pints. Cole’s has since undergone renovations and restorations and reopened to today offer a space that evokes the spirit of saloons that dotted the Old West landscape back in the early 1900’s. Cole’s is adorned with its original glass lighting, penny tile floors, historic photos, and a friendly atmosphere with mood lighting that evokes the feeling of stepping back in time into a smoky speakeasy.
