Originally built back in 1950, Walt Disney's Carolwood Barn is a museum in Los Angeles dedicated to showcasing Walt Disney's love of trains and their impact on his life and his creative pursuits -- including the creation of Disneyland Park.

The barn was originally located in Holmby Hills, and for the street where he lived: Carolwood Drive. It has been said to be the site of his original “imagineering” ideation.

Following his passing and the passing of his wife, his daughter came to the rescue by bestowing both the barn and Walt’s hand-laid tracks to a group of locomotive enthusiasts known as “the Los Angeles Live Steamers,” who maintained a rail museum in LA’s Griffith Park. The barn is now a museum dedicated to showcasing Walt's love of trains and model railroading.

Under ordinary circumstances the barn is open for free, on the third Sunday of each month from 11am to 3pm, and is subject to change these hours based on current safety protocol.
