This Los Angeles Plaza Historic District parish church was founded in 1814. Its regal name translates to “Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church” (today it's also known as "La Placita"), and it was one of the first three sites designated as Historic-Cultural Monuments by the City of Los Angeles in 1962.

Today, the landmark has also been designated a California Historical Landmark and is still part of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. It’s unique because it’s the only building at El Pueblo that is still used for its original purpose.
