Madero 1899

Madero 1899 is a vibrant Mexican restaurant and cantina located in the heart of Downtown Fullerton. The restaurant lives in a historic building that dates all the way back to 1899, and has been a staple in the community for over 15 years. 

Cozy interior including red-brick walls, a candlelit ambiance, and a 50-foot wooden bar makes the space feel intimate, even though it’s plenty open for larger groups. There’s even an outdoor patio. 

The menu features a variety of dishes made from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Popular dishes include: 

• Gourmet Tacos: Choices like Al Pastor, Short Rib, Fried Avocado, and Carne Asada, are served with unique toppings such as grilled pineapple, pickled onions, and chimichurri coleslaw 
• Specialty dishes: Steak A La Plancha, Drunken Shrimp, and Arroz Con Pollo, offer bold flavors with generous portions for a satisfying meal

Weekly specials like Happy Hour on Sunday–Friday, 2–6 p.m., means $8 appetizers and discounted drinks, and Taco Tuesdays from 2 p.m.–Midnight, offer $2.75 to $8 tacos and live music starting at 8 pm. On Thursdays, enjoy Tequila & Burrito Thursday from 2–10 p.m., featuring half-off burritos and premium tequila.
