Service Update: Current Schedule and What's Ahead

The reduced schedule, in effect since March 23, 2026, will continue beyond the seven weeks initially announced. We recognize the disruption to your Metrolink experience, and we appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued ridership during this time.

We implemented this service reduction to address mounting mechanical issues and supply constraints. While progress has been made, those issues have not yet been fully resolved.

What This Means for You

  • The current reduced schedule remains in effect and is the schedule you can continue relying on.
  • Keeping the current schedule in place helps avoid repeated short-term changes that would create even more uncertainty.
  • Please continue using the current schedule to plan your travel and continue checking alerts and service information before you travel.

What’s Ahead? We also want to be transparent with you that additional financial pressures are affecting our future ability to provide the level of service you are used to.

As we assess our short- and long-term financial outlook, we are evaluating more significant service reductions and a potential fare increase that could take effect as early as October.

Why Changes are Being Considered: Ridership is still below pre-pandemic levels, and funding for service has not fully recovered, putting pressure on our ability to maintain current service levels. Metrolink has already taken significant measures to reduce costs in other areas before considering changes that affect our customers.

How You Can Have Your Voice Heard

Our customers’ voices will be essential during this period. We want to hear directly from you as we consider proposed changes. Beginning Friday, May 1, you will have the opportunity to share feedback through a formal public comment period.

You will be able to have your voice heard in several ways, including:

  • Online survey
  • Feedback submission form
  • Virtual public meetings
  • Public hearing at the June Board meeting

Check back on May 1 for details on how to participate and share your comments.
