Claremont Wilderness Park, 5 Mile Loop Trail
The Claremont Hills Wilderness Park 5-mile loop trail is one of the most well-known and highly appreciated hikes in the Inland Empire. The climb features 870 feet of elevation gain traveling steadily up a wide, moderately challenging fire road. It’s a satisfying workout that can be modified to accommodate any hiking pace.
Since it’s a loop, hikers can choose to start their journey in either direction, but travelers who take a right turn will start off in the shade which can be helpful for hiking on a hot and sunny SoCal day. Along the trek, there are plenty of points to stop for a rest and appreciate panoramic vista views. The climb's peak offers fabulous views of downtown LA and the San Gabriels Front Range on a clear day and is an ideal spot to take in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
It’s a family-friendly hike, and dogs are welcome to join as long as they’re kept on a leash. Hikers can check out the local wildlife along the way, including flowers blooming in the spring and early summer. It’s an adventurous activity to get outdoors and appreciate the pleasant California weather.
