LOS ANGELES – Promoting its special weekend service to the Los Angeles County Fair, Metrolink today transported a menagerie of baby animals and 50 sixth grade students to the Fair in Pomona after treating commuters at Union Station to an early morning petting zoo courtesy of the fair.
The miniature pony, calf, goats, chickens and rabbits delighted Metrolink train riders and students from Dorris Place Elementary School in Los Angeles.
Metrolink used the occasion to remind fairgoers that they can save money on travel and admission to the LA County Fair by taking Metrolink’s special weekend trains, which offer a comfortable, convenient and stress-free ride and no parking hassles.
Saturday and Sunday Metrolink tickets are only $10 for unlimited rides, and Metrolink riders can also save $8 off adult and $6 off child ticket prices when purchasing fair tickets online at lacountyfair.com and using the promo code Metrolink.
Metrolink is scheduling an additional evening train and adding stops at the Fairplex Station, located between the Covina Station and Pomona-North Station, on the San Bernardino Line every Saturday and Sunday starting Sept. 2 through Sept. 24 and Labor Day. All trains except 351, 352 and 353 will stop at the Fairplex Station. A free shuttle will pick up Metrolink riders at the Fairplex Station and take them to the Yellow Gate entrance into the fair. The additional special weekend train departs the Fairplex at 8:30 p.m. returning to L.A. Union Station.
This year, Metrolink will also stop at the Fairplex Station on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4. Please note, Metrolink will operate a Sunday schedule and regular Monday fares will apply with no Sunday or Weekend Day Pass discount.
Since 1993, Metrolink has been making special weekend stops on the San Bernardino Line at the Fairplex Station. The new additional Metrolink service is made possible by funding from Los Angeles County Metro.
