Minor adjustments to one San Bernardino Line and two Ventura County Line trains

LOS ANGELES – Beginning Monday, Oct. 23, Metrolink riders on the Antelope Valley (AV) Line will enjoy expanded weekday and weekend service. AV Line schedule changes will include the addition of nine total trains across the weekday and weekend schedule, which will double the number of weekend trains operating along the AV Line corridor between Los Angeles and Lancaster. The schedule expansion coincides with the opening of the new Vista Canyon Station in the City of Santa Clarita, which is part of a multi-modal regional transit center development.

The additional AV Line trains are made possible through funding from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). On Sept. 28, the Metro Board approved a $1.6 million funding increase to restore AV Line service to pre-pandemic levels. Metro is one of five county transportation agencies that fund Metrolink.

"I’m thrilled that the added trains, along with the opening of the new Vista Canyon Station, will provide more frequent service and greater transit flexibility so that we can grow ridership on the Antelope Valley Line," said LA County Board Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who is also a member of the Metro and Metrolink boards of directors. “I would like to thank my fellow Metro Board members for approving this initiative to restore and improve Antelope Valley Line service. It is undeniably a critical lifeline for the residents of the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita regions."

Vista Canyon will become Metrolink’s 67th station spanning Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and San Diego counties.

The new Antelope Valley Line schedule will offer more weekday and weekend train service than ever before and will offer the second-highest number of trains of any Metrolink service line. The AV Line schedule meets the shifting demands of riders throughout the week.

“Thank you to the Metro Board of Directors for approving the necessary funding to meet the changing needs of our Antelope Valley Line riders,” Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle said. “Adding midday and later evening train service on both weekdays and weekends will create more options for passengers traveling outside of the traditional commuter time frames, including people heading to and from Los Angeles for sporting and entertainment events. The enhanced schedule will improve the way customers use Metrolink and, thanks to the Metro Board vision, preview what regional passenger rail service could look like across our entire system soon.”

In addition to expanding service on the AV Line, there will be minor adjustments to two trains on Metrolink’s Ventura County Line and one train on the San Bernardino Line.
