Temporary Metrolink Service Changes Starting March 23, 2026
Metrolink is temporarily reducing service beginning Monday, March 23, 2026 due to limited train availability caused by ongoing mechanical issues and supply challenges for replacement parts.
These changes are a necessary step to protect the reliability of the service we can continue to operate. While this may impact your travel plans, our goal is to provide a more dependable and predictable schedule during this period.
What's changing?
-
Select trains across most Metrolink lines will not operate temporarily
-
Service reductions will affect all lines except the Riverside Line and Arrow service
-
Some trips will be shortened or adjusted
-
Customers should expect fewer trip options throughout the day
These temporary service changes are expected to remain in place for seven weeks.
Why This Is Happening
Metrolink is currently experiencing reduced train availability due to recurring mechanical issues and challenges sourcing replacement parts.
Rather than risk widespread delays, last-minute cancellations, and unreliable service, Metrolink is proactively adjusting the schedule to:
- Maintain safe operations
- Provide more consistent and dependable service
- Reduce unexpected disruptions across the system
This is a difficult but necessary step to ensure the service we operate remains reliable for our riders.
