MADE by DWC Café & Gift Boutique
MADE by DWC is a purpose-driven social enterprise devised to empower women in LA to break the cycle of chronic homelessness through the opportunity of stable, supportive employment.
MADE by DWC offers three businesses -- two brick-and-mortar stores in downtown Los Angeles and an online presence. 100% of proceeds from purchases at the MADE by DWC store help fund career training and mentorship programs.
In downtown Los Angeles, shoppers can visit The MADE by DWC Café & Gift Boutique, which is adjacent to the Downtown Women's Center itself, and serves coffee, tea, and baked goods, and sells the Home & Gift Collection in an on-site community gathering space.
Here, visitors can find a range of cozy home items and gifts created by formerly homeless women who are employed in the organization's job-training program. The collection includes goodies like all-natural, hand-poured soaps, soy candles, bath salts, cards and journals with personally designed artwork.
The Home & Gift Collection items are also sold at retailers across Los Angeles, including Raven & Lily, The Little Market, LA Original, and Ten Thousand Villages.
There's also the MADE by DWC Resale Boutique nearby, where shoppers can explore a curated selection of new, gently used, and vintage items for sale. Purchases at the boutique help fund the DWC's career training and mentorship programs.
Every woman at MADE by DWC earns an income and has a safe space to focus on developing long-term career growth opportunities. Participants receive intensive on-site job training and transitional employment opportunities.
In 2022 alone, through supporters’ generous purchases and donations, the DWC supported 49 women with employment and job training.
Those who want to help beyond monetary donations and purchases can visit the Downtown Women’s Center’s headquarters in downtown LA to donate clean and gently used men's and women's apparel and accessories to support the MADE by DWC Resale Boutique.
