Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in America, attracting tens of thousands of people each weekend to enjoy food and retail choices from a range of over 100 rotating local vendors.
It’s located on the five-acre site of the weekday Alameda Produce Market in Downtown Los Angeles -- which is also the site of the up-and-coming outdoor mall, ROW DTLA. Free to attend and open to visitors of all ages every Sunday, rain or shine, this market is a great place to spend a Sunday.
Famous purveyors range in all types of food from all across Los Angeles. They include cuisines such as sweet treats like Buddy Pop’s vegan popsicles, Shrimp Daddy’s savory garlic butter shrimp dishes -- even and Mama Musubi’s made-to-order rice balls.
There are an ample amount of vegetarian/vegan choices as well as an onsite beer garden for those 21+ to hang out for an afternoon of people watching and tasty food.
And for those interested in doing a bit of retail therapy while they munch, there are plenty of lifestyle brands hosting booths on-site, as well. Check out American Hecho's wide variety of clothing, Rx Candles' handmade, vegan and cruelty-free candles and essential oils, or Planting Hope's flowers and greenery -- among other local artisan vendors.
